National and international organisations
ETH Zurich supports and is a member of the following national and international organisations and networks:
The Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research is a non-profit-making international
association of 60 leading European engineering universities, colleges
and schools. The main objectives of CESAER are to provide "high-quality" engineering education in Europe and to improve links between
its members in research as well as in postgraduate and continuing education.
The European Higher Education Society has nearly 500 members from
50 different countries all over the world, including Africa, South
America, Asia and Australasia. EAIR members are working in
universities, polytechnics and other higher education institutions,
primarily but not exclusively in Europe - either in university
administration, or in academic departments with particular research
interests in management issues.
The European University Association represents and supports
higher education institutions in 46 countries, providing them with a
unique forum to cooperate and keep abreast of the latest trends in
higher education and research policies.
- IAESTE Switzerland
The International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience is an organisation for the exchange of students at higher
education institutions wishing to obtain technical experience abroad.
The International Association of Universities is the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education
institutions. It brings together institutions and organisations
from some 150 countries for
reflection and action on common concerns. Further it collaborates with various
international, regional and national bodies active in higher education.
Its services are available on the priority basis to members but also to
organisations, institutions and authorities concerned with higher
education, as well as to individual policy and decision-makers,
specialists, administrators, teachers, researchers and students.
- OECD IMHE
The OECD programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education brings together higher education institutions and governments to
share best practices, ideas and potential models to meet these
challenges through networks, studies and research.
The European Society for Engineering Education is the largest
network of higher engineering institutions and of individuals involved
in engineering education in Europe. It has the mission to contribute to
the development and the improvement of the engineering education in
The Rectors' Conference of the Swiss Universities fosters and represents the common interests of all Swiss universities towards political and public authorities, the industry, social and cultural institutions and the public. The conference is engaged in the coordination and cooperation in the fields of education and research among the Swiss universities.
- NaTech Education
NaTech Education fosters the interest for science and technology among
elementary school and secondary school children. In addition it
supports the design of new appropriate teaching material for science and
- SFZH Initiative
The San Francisco-Zurich Initiative (SFZH) is aimed at fostering knowledge-sharing between companies and institutions in San Francisco and the Bay Area and their counterparts in Zurich and the surrounding region.
- Swiss Study Foundation
The foundation supports excellent, broadly interested students from all
Swiss universities. The students are expected to bring special results
in science, industry, culture or politics through their personalities,
creativity and intellectual capacities.
